Learn How to Change Background

Removing the existing background from a picture and replacing it with a new background is a very simple task in Photoshop. This is a very basic image editing option.

Step 1:

Choose two files with one file having only the background image and the other file where the image has to be separated from the original background and placed in the background of choice.

Step 2:

First take the file from which the image is to be cut. To select only that particular image we can make use of “The Polygon Lasso tool”, “The Lasso tool”, or “The Magnetic Lasso Tool”. Let’s make use of the polygon lasso tool.

Once the tool has been chosen we need to use it to crop our image. Take the polygon lasso tool and just drag it over all the edges of the image. This way only the image is selected and separated from the background.

Step 3:

If the image is very small in size after placing it in the background image then, again go to the main menu, edit and then select “free transform” from the list of options displayed. Now just hold and drag the picture and the picture gets zoomed. Zoom it till it suits the background.

Step 6:

Sometimes it may be difficult to accurately remove the picture from one file and place it onto the other. There may be chances where the original background may be seen a little when we place it onto the second file. So to remove the unwanted portions from the image and make it more sharp there are few options.

So now a clear picture is ready which gives it a complete look.

This type of photo editing is a very handy and very simple and can be used by novice designers. While making use of any kind of image editing option never miss to make a duplicate of the original file. If the file, which is edited, is not sustaining one can always go back and make use of the duplicated file. This is not the only way to change the background of the image. There are some quick selection tools which easily detect even the edges of the photo and cut it exactly. Even if this goes wrong there is another way where we can add (shift) and subtract (alt) the selected portion. This gives an easy and improved selection. Another alternate way is to use the Free Ware (the Instant Mask), which masks out the image or the picture alone. This uses a little different approach.
